In addition to skilled nursing services, Mary Health of the Sick Hospital offers a number of other special services to make our residents as comfortable, healthy, and secure as possible.

SOCIAL SERVICES

Although placement in a skilled nursing facility is often the best option for everyone involved, the placement doesn’t happen without emotional turmoil. Our Social Service Department provides the knowledge, insight and support assisting both the resident and family members adjust to a new environment and life stage.

DIETARY SERVICES

Delicious, nutritious meals are prepared daily under the guidance of a professional food supervisor. Breakfasts, lunches and dinners are designed around each resident’s personally prescribed diet plan. Attractively served, they enhance even the most finicky of appetites.

LAUNDRY DEPARTMENT

Our on-site laundry, which operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, washes, irons and returns clothes and linens to residents’ rooms. In lieu of disposables, we use only cotton products because cotton linens and under pads are softer on the skin, aid in maintaining healthy skin, help to control odors and, moreover, are environmentally friendly.

PHYSICAL, SPEECH & OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY

As mandated by government regulations, each new resident at Mary Health of the Sick undergoes an extensive physical therapy evaluation upon admission. The results determine whether or not the person will receive physical, speech or occupational therapy. Often therapy is prescribed because the incoming resident has broken a hip, had a stroke or undergone some other major medical condition. (Medicare places a time limit on the length of therapy.)

CODE ALERT WANDERER MONITORING SYSTEM

Because Mary Health of the Sick isn’t a locked facility, Mary Health has installed a monitoring system to help safeguard wandering, confused residents. Restraint free, it uses ankle or wrist transmitters, which trigger an alarm if a resident tries to open an outside door or enter an unsafe area. It not only immediately alerts staff, but also reminds residents that they need assistance.
